April Meeting.....

Another lovely gathering of the Southern Belles.........As usual a lot of chatter from beginning to end. Everyone brought their sewing machines and Pat guided everyone in working on machine embroidery, a very useful technique to master.

Pat brought a number of interesting samples to share with us and to give some inspiration

Carol brought with her her works in progress to show us the papier mache doll we will be working on for our next workshop, lots of excitement as Carol has offered two sizes and again a whole new technique to learn.

March Meeting.........

Another gathering of the Belles and Beaus at Wellow Hall. As usual much chatter and much industry as everyone worked on the lovely little leather writing case for a fashion doll presented by Lesley. Unfortunately I failed to get a picture of the finished article, but check back and we will find one.

There was lots of other things to see on the Show and Tell table........

Jean finally finished this lovely little scissor keep, started in a convention workshop many moons ago!!

Books to drool over.....it seams we all love our books!

Adrienne brought in a Christmas box that we all decided would make a fun project some time

And Colin as always delighted us with these beautiful little Victorian music boxes (Manivelles) both still in excellent condition despite obviously being played with, they were such a delight to see and hear!

Looking forward to our next meeting to learn a bit about machine embroidery, it should be fun!

Southern Belles AGM

Wow! talk about a lot of talk!! Lots to say and catch up on. Business was kept as short and sweet as possible. All our officers remain in post and our funds remain reasonably healthy.

Most of the talk was about our programme for the year, we are deviating from our usual format and incorporating several projects instead of the usual one. The programme is up on the website so take a look here.

More details will be added soon but for the moment a few pictures of the day........

 Raffle as usual...

Trudy brought these lovely little brollies for us all

Pats home made craft bag with lots of pockets and compartments.........

Sue's Day Out.........

I had a day out today! Having joined the Doll club of Great Britain I thought I'd show willing and get to a meeting in London. There was a very informative talk by Olwyn Pearson on Black Dolls.
The Show and tell table was loaded with all sorts of examples of black dolls from the 1850's to contemporary to mystery dolls, all were lovely to see........

 A lovely 'Hilda'
 A gorgeous AM341
 A Beautiful Steiner
A Collection of Helen Kish Dolls
